PRIMARY SCHOOLS BADMINTON FESTIVAL

 

THORNABY COMMUNITY SCHOOL PRIMARY PARTNERSHIP SCHOOLS BADMINTON FESTIVAL WAS HELD AT TCS ON WEDNESDAY 28TH MARCH.

 

THE FESTIVAL WAS ORGANISED BY SHEILA BOYES (TEES VALLEY BADMINTON COMMUNITY SPORTS COACH) AND MARIE STANSMORE (TCS SCHOOL SPORTS COORDINATOR).

 

THE FIVE PRIMARY SCHOOLS TAKING PART WERE MANDALE, HAREWOOD, CHURCH OF ENGLAND, VILLAGE AND BADER.

 

THE FESTIVAL WAS THE RESULT OF SHEILA GOING INTO THE TCS PRIMARY PARTNERSHIP SCHOOLS, SINCE THE START OF THE YEAR, TO INTRODUCE PRIMARY AGED PUPILS TO BADMINTON.

 

EACH SCHOOL WAS REPRESENTED BY A TEAM OF 8 PUPILS FROM YEAR 4.

 

THE FIRST PART OF THE FESTIVAL WAS BASED ON FIVE SKILL PRACTICES THAT THE PUPILS HAD BEEN COACHED IN.

EACH TEAM TOOK TURNS AT EACH SKILL AND POINTS WERE AWARDED.

THE SECOND PART OF THE FESTIVAL WAS PLAYING GAMES OF DOUBLES.

 

THE WINNING TEAM WERE BADER PRIMARY SCHOOL, WHO WERE AWARDED A CUP AND EACH TEAM MEMBER RECEIVED A MEDAL.
